Western Electric 354 wall telephone
The Western Electric Model 354 is the wall version of the
famed Model 302 deskphone. It was the first "modern" wall phone made
by Western Electric and it replaced many of the old wood phones that were still
in common use at the time.
This original 354 has a thermoplastic case and bakelite
handset that has been fully refurbished to factory specifications. Since the 354
was introduced before the invention of modular wall telephone jacks, it was
designed to be securely screwed to the wall, and hard wired to the telephone
line. We will include detailed installation instructions with the phone to guide
you through the process of removing your existing wall jack, connecting the
wires to your new phone. As an alternative, if you have a jack near the floor,
we can provide a modular line cord to run between the phone and the jack.
If you prefer to take advantage of your existing modular wall
jack to mount your telephone, we do have add-on modular mounting plates
available for the 354 for an additional $39.95. This is obviously not an
original mounting solution, but it is convenient!
