Small Colonial Salt Box - circa 1770's
For easy accessibility of the cook, most salt boxes were hung by the wood cook stove. They didn't have salt shakers and the salt was only available in large clumps. The original from which this piece was reproduced came from Pennsylvania. Measures approximately 9,5" tall x 6" wide, with a projection of about 5 inches. Shown in Colonial blue. Note: let us know if this is for "display" only or if you plan to store salt in it, and the interior will be finished appropriately.
