Large Colonial Salt Box
For easy accessibility of the cook, most salt boxes were
hung by the wood cook stove. They didn't have salt shakers and the salt was only
available in large clumps. This piece is a a reproduction from
Massachusetts. The modified "lollipop" configuration on the back was
common in many early pieces. Measures approximately 14" tall x 10.75"
wide, with a projection of about 5.75 inches. Shown in Colonial blue.Note:
let us know if this is for "display" only or if you plan to store salt
in it, and the interior will be finished appropriately.
